All of our members are volunteers. The community band has no paid employees. The people who keep our band running smoothly are first among equals and hold a cherished place in the hearts of our performers. It is the people who step forward to handle the multitude of tasks necessary to keep all of our efforts together and proceeding along a path to delivery of live music to our community whom we thank for their dedication. We recognize some -- alas, not all -- on this page.
The Fairbanks Community Band is governed by a board of directors elected at the second concert band rehearsal in October each year by members of the band. The board is elected for a one year term. The board members elect their own officers: president, vice-president, secretary, and treasurer. Only elected members of the board may vote on matters before the board. The president votes only to break a tie vote. Bandmasters (conductors of the bands) are included as non-voting advisers unless elected to the board by members of the band.
Meetings are normally held before the second rehearsal of the concert band at the location of the rehearsal. The board usually takes a break in late summer. The board currently meets at:
