Fairbanks Community Band

The Fairbanks Community Band is a wind and percussion ensemble for adult musicians. We perform as a full concert band and as a jazz band, both for public concerts and private engagements. Our purpose is to provide an opportunity for adults to continue making music beyond the high school and college years, and to pass our enjoyment of live music on to the community in which we perform.   1. Concert band members
    Folder contents are now available from the music library listing. Enter the letter D for collect the tunes together.
  2. Jazz Band members
    Next up is participation in the UAF Jazz Festival.
  3. Board of Directors
    Board meetings have been changed to the second rehearsal of the full (concert) band each month. At the moment, that means the second Thursday.
  4. Everybody
    The band will host a fund raiser June 19, in the form of a garage sale. Wendy is organizing it.

Important note: This summer (2010), concert band rehearsals will remain on Thursday evening. Jazz will stay on Wednesday evening, but will not rehearse on days when the full band is performing.

Next Activities

All times given are the time we begin to play. Please allow time to park, set up for the event, tune, and generally be available for the downbeat before the start time. Unless otherwise stated, band members should be available for setup, sound check, and tuning 30 minutes before the stated time.

Concert Band:
Next rehearsal: Thursday, March 18, 7:00 pm. at Old Train Depot .
Next rehearsal is 2 of 9. Including March 18, 8 rehearsals remain until the concert on May 10.
Next concert: Monday, May 10, 6:30 pm. at Hering Aditorium Star of the North Graduation.
Dress: Black and white.
Jazz Band:
Next rehearsal: Wednesday, March 24, 7:00 pm. at Old Train Depot .
Next concert: Thursday, April 15, 7:00 pm. at Davis Hall, UAF. Downbeat at 7 for UAF Jazz Fest.
Dress: Tan and blue.
Board of Directors
The next meeting is Thursday, April 08, 6:00 pm. at Old Train Depot Change of date.
